Tottenham Hotspur are believed to have made a joint bid to land two of Newcastle United’s reported summer transfer targets.
The North London outfit are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season after they missed out on European qualification by ending the campaign in eighth place in the Premier League table. The appointment of Celtic’s treble-winning manager Ange Postecoglou was confirmed last week and the Australian is said to be keen to add to the squad he inherited throughout the summer transfer window.

“I can assure you that, right through pre-season, we won’t leave any stone unturned – myself, the staff and the players – to make sure that, when the league comes around, you’ll all be as excited as I am about the season ahead.”
A move for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire have all been widely reported across the media - but it is one recently relegated club that is said to have received a £50m offer from Spurs for two of their key players.
Newcastle are long-term admirers of Foxes winger Harvey Barnes and playmaker James Maddison and there have been strong suggestions they are ‘leading the race’ for the latter after making three unsuccessful bids for the England international last summer. A new offer is yet to be made as this summer’s trading gets underway and it is Spurs that are said to have made the first firm move for both Maddison and Barnes, who is also attracting interest from West Ham United and Aston Villa.
