‘Used to their advantage’ - Major Neymar to Newcastle United transfer update

Newcastle United are being linked with an eye-catching summer move for PSG winger Neymar. The Brazil international is facing an uncertain long-term future with his current club and is being tipped for a departure at the end of this season.

According to 90min, the Toon Army are ‘interested’ in luring him over to England to bolster their attacking options ahead of next term. The report adds that the player would likely require a fee in excess of £75million.

Newcastle have been very shrewd with their recruitment since their takeover and landed Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Lyon as one of their first big-money arrivals last year. Eddie Howe wants the right characters at St. James’ Park and it will be interesting to see what stance he has on this potential target.

Neymar has been on the books at PSG since 2017 and has made 173 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants in all competitions to date, chipping in with 118 goals. He has helped them win the title four times since his move.

Prior to his switch to France, he played for Barcelona after they lured him over to Europe from boyhood club Santos and he was a hit at Camp Nou. The attacker fired 105 goals in 186 outings.

Newcastle will be linked with a whole host of names over the next few months due to the financial powers they now hold. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Neymar move to a new club and the North East outfit have as big of a chance as any in this country to get him.
