Valencia have sacked president Anil Murthy over leaked audio recordings, where he allegedly called Newcastle and Liverpool “s--t cities”.
Spanish newspaper Superdeporte had published a recording of Murthy at a private dinner where he apparently made the Newcastle and Liverpool remark, as well as vilify players in the media if they forced an exit this summer.

The La Liga club previously defended Murthy, insisting the publication was running a “smear campaign” against the 49-year-old. But on Monday, Los Che changed their stance in a move to “regain the trust of the fans”.
Valencia club statement
A club statement read: “The board would like to clarify that the content of the leaked conversations between Anil Murthy and various third parties are the personal views of Anil Murthy and not of Valencia CF. Valencia CF disassociates itself from his views.
“The board values the importance of a close relationship between the club, the community, fans, government authorities, media and other stakeholders.

“Effective immediately, Anil Murthy will cease to be both President and an employee of Valencia CF.”
Valencia fans started a mass protest against owner Peter Lim and Murthy’s running of the club during their final game of the season against Celta Vigo earlier this month.
The Mestalla-based outfit finished ninth in La Liga this season - missing out on European qualification for a third straight year - and lost the Copa del Rey final on penalties to Real Betis.
