Footage from Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth shows Kelly arriving for medical in London. He is poised to become the Magpies’ second summer signing after Lewis Hall, whose loan from Chelsea will become permanent for an initial £28million.
Kelly is well known to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, who signed him for Bournemouth for £13million from Bristol City five years ago. The former England under-21s international made 141 appearances for the South Coast club and was captain when they won promotion back to the Premier League in 2021-22.

“I think he can make a difference as well. I think he’s got real potential to go right to the top. “He is an unbelievable specimen physically. He’s got all the tools to be a real player at this level. It’s just a case that he is going to have to be patient to show that.”
Kelly’s versatility - possessing the ability to play at centre-back or left-back - Premier League experience and free agent status should prove to be in a shrewd piece of business.
