Watch as Sandro Tonali arrives at St James’ Park for first visit as a Newcastle United player

Sandro Tonali has arrived at St James’ Park for the first time since becoming a Newcastle United player.

Around two weeks after the midfielder agreed terms on an initial five-year deal, the 23-year-old Italian under-21 skipper arrived on Tyneside on Wednesday to complete transfer formalities.

And NewcastleWorld have been here to see Tonali get used to his new surroundings, firstly at club’s transformed Benton training base and now St James’ Park.

Tonali flew direct from Milan, where he spent the last three years playing for his boyhood heroes, the Rossoneri, into Newcastle’s private airport to the north of the city at around 4pm on Wednesday.

He was soon taken around the area, stopping off in Darras Hall, where he was spotted by some eagle-eyed fans, before heading to the club’s North Tyneside training base for his first shot in a black and white shirt - and a look around the newly-refurbished Darsley Park site.

Around 9:50am on Thursday morning, Tonali arrived at St James’ Park for a first look, where he will pose for photos in a black and white shirt and conduct his first interview with the club’s media team.

Newcastle’s players return to pre-season training at the end of the week, however, Tonali is not expected to play a part in the early stages of the summer, having only recently returned from international duty at the under-21 Euros.
