Newcastle United welcome Crystal Palace to St James’ Park and will again be without their talismanic manager. Howe fell ill last week and a club statement on Saturday confirmed he had been admitted to hospital.
A further announcement yesterday revealed the Toon boss remains in recovery after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Jason Tindall will once again assume control of the dugout as he did when the Magpies beat Manchester United 4-1 at the weekend.

Speaking before the game, Eagles boss Glaser sent his regards to Howe as he continues his recovery in hospital. He said: “It’s challenging but first of all, when we talk about Newcastle, I want to send all my best wishes to Eddie Howe.
“I think he’s still in hospital and I hope he recovers very well, very quickly and he can manage his side soon. I love the way he manages his teams. I followed him when he managed Bournemouth and now, with Newcastle, the intensity and passion they play with, the quality they have, how quickly they get the ball forward, is really great to watch.”
Glasner also spoke about the need to quieten the St James' Park crowd when his team takes to the Tyneside turf tomorrow. The Austrian added: “We need to keep the atmosphere (inside St James’ Park) calm, that’s the best thing (for us to do).

Of course, we are also considering what we need to play against Newcastle. I watched their game against Man United. They were very powerful, with a lot of energy, especially in their stadium.
“They are playing for a Champions League position at the end of the season. They’re a great team, high intensity, making a lot of sprints, so we will find the right players to compete with them and this is how we will pick the team.”
Oliver Glasner welcoming back Marc Guehi following Crystal Palace suspension
Marc Guehi - a Newcastle transfer target last summer - is available after missing the Manchester City defeat through suspension. Glasner is happy to welcome his skipper back for the trip to the Magpies.
“First of all, when you miss the captain - you miss Marc, we miss him,” he said. “But I think it would be too easy, and we are never looking for excuses, because it can happen that a player is missing a game.

“We showed the players clips where we couldn't see them on the screen, because we didn't push up quickly enough and I don't know why, it just happened. We showed them this, and we know that we will do it better tomorrow.”
