West Ham United star Michail Antonio says he’ll be looking up in the Premier League table this season - and joked Callum Wilson will be looking down.

Antonio and Wilson returned for their first BBC Footballer’s Football Podcast episode of the season and were in high spirits ahead of the official kick-off this weekend.

When discussing various topics, the two strikers were asked to provide their pre-season predictions on which team will win the Premier League title.

While both men ultimately agreed on Manchester City, Wilson backed Tottenham Hotspur to “throw a spanner in the works” after a busy summer transfer window.

Antonio was then asked if he thought Spurs were good enough to lift the top-flight title before biting to a cheeky response from Wilson.

“I don’t think they’re good enough to win it but I feel they’re going to challenge and miss out at the end,” Antonio said.

“Tottenham always gets close but they don’t finish it at the end.”

Wilson then sensed an opportunity... “a bit like West Ham last season!” after David Moyes’ men missed out on a top six finish.

Antonio then hit back and joked “we’re fighting for different things mate. You keep looking down, I’ll keep looking up!”

Wilson, whilst both men laughed, said “here we go! He’s having a nibble, we’ve caught him!”

The Hammers are hoping to remain around the European spots this campaign while Newcastle may look to do the same with a couple more attacking signings.

Certainly, for the first time in a while, the Magpies are aiming to do more than just survive in the Premier League this term.
