Newcastle United face West Ham United at the London Stadium this afternoon in their last Premier League fixture before the two-week international break.
Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten in their last six games with the best of the lot coming against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek. Goals from Miguel Almiron, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar sealed a 4-1 victory over the French champions on the club’s first Champions League home night for 20 years.
Prior to that, United drew with AC Milan in the San Siro, dumped English and European champions Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup and beat Brentford, Sheffield United and Burnley in the Premier League.
As a result of the challenging and busy schedule over the last month or so, the Magpies have picked up a number of injuries. Here’s the latest team news from both Newcastle and West Ham ahead today’s 2pm kick-off:
1. Harvey Barnes - out
Barnes won’t return until 2024 due to a toe injury he sustained against Sheffield United last month.
2. Joe Willock - out
Willock is expected to resume training between mid to late October as he recovers from an Achilles injury.
3. Sven Botman - out
Dutch defender Botman won’t return until after the international break due to a knee injury.
4. Anthony Gordon - out (suspended)
Gordon picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign against Burnley last Saturday, resulting in an automatic one-match ban.
