Eddie Howe used his first interview after the summer to come out firing at Newcastle United.

From the club’s summer base at the Adidas HQ in the German countryside, Howe made his feelings known on his future and changes at Newcastle, in a wide-ranging interview, which has certainly grabbed the headlines.

NewcastleWorld were there asking the questions, as Howe talked of his love of the job at United and gave a less than enthusiastic response when asked about a potential approach by the Football Association.

However, it was his intonation that things are not all well within the halls of power that really got people talking.

And in a video from Herzogenaurach, NewcastleWorld editor Liam Kennedy and NUFC writer Jordan Cronin discuss why this felt like a very different Howe to the one they usually come across in normal circumstances.

The duo both admit they were surprised by Howe’s comments on changes, which has seen the introduction of performance and sporting directors, the removal of Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley as investors, as well as unsettling talk of him replacing Gareth Southgate as Three Lions’ boss.
