Brentford boss Thomas Frank was left wowed by his players after they beat Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Bees twice took the lead in the first-half through Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa but were pegged back both times as Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes equalised.

But the second-half was no even contest and Frank’s side surged to a 4-2 victory. Nathan Collins made it 3-2 in the 56th minute before substitute Kevin Schade added a fourth in the 90th minute.

Speaking ahead of the game, Frank declared that Newcastle would be his side’s “biggest test” on home soil so far this season. So, it is perhaps no surprise that the Dane was left delighted at the result.

Brentford’s media team were given access to the home dressing room at full-time and captured Frank’s speech, where dropped a couple of f-bombs.

“Just f-----g wow,” Frank said. “Honestly f-----g wow. It’s a good team, they are a f-----g good team with good players and you, totally fair, honestly got a completely well deserved win. Well f-----g done.”

The mood of both managers couldn’t have been more contrasting. Eddie Howe decided to keep his dressing room words to a minimum ahead of detailed digest next week.

“In my experience you can make a lot of mistakes when you speak to players directly after a game,” admitted Howe. “You can say a lot of things you regret on your own emotion so I try to keep my conversations to them very short.

“But certainly when we reflect it’ll be very long because we have to give the information on where we think we went wrong and then we have to do the work to put it right.”
