Where Newcastle United, Aston Villa & West Ham will finish in the Premier League this season - based on fans’ confidence
Here is where Newcastle United would finish in the Premier League if it was based on fans’ confidence ahead of the season.
With less than three weeks to go until the Premier League returns, Newcastle United fans are waiting in anticipation for their first full campaign since their takeover.
The Magpies have made three signings and have been linked with a number of top stars, leaving the fanbase with high expectations of their beloved club.
Eddie Howe’s side are likely to have a much improved campaign this time out and it is clear that the supporters are very excited about the season ahead in comparison to previous years.
Ahead of the new campaign, Sky Bet and YouGov have teamed up and completed a survey as part of their Fan Hopes campaign.
The research asked fans of each Premier League club a series of questions to determine how confident they were feeling about their team’s chances this time round.
As a result of the survey, we can see which fanbases are the most and least hopeful about the season ahead from a scale of 1-10 (1 being not optimistic at all, 10 being very optimistic).
Here is how the Premier League table will look if it was based on these ratings (from lowest to highest)...
Eddie Howe’s side are likely to have a much improved campaign this time out and it is clear that the supporters are very excited about the season ahead in comparison to previous years.

5. Wolves - 5.9
Wolves had an up-and-down season last time out and ended up finishing mid-table, but fans definitely aren’t feeling very optimistic this time round. So far the Midlands club have brought in Nathan Collins from Burnley, while Hee-chan Hwang’s transfer became permanent.

6. AFC Bournemouth - 6
Given they are hot favourites to be relegated, Bournemouth fans aren’t quite as pessimistic as you would expect. The Cherries were last promoted in 2015 and spent another five years in the Premier League.

7. Leeds United - 6.2
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Leeds United have now sold their two best players in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips and it’s no surprise that fans are feleling sceptical.

8. Aston Villa - 6.4
Despite the arrival of Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara, as well as the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho, Aston Villa fans don’t appear to be too confident this season.
