Since becoming head coach in November 2021, Howe has exceeded expectations by quickly taking the club from relegation candidates to European contenders. United’s form in 2022 was incredible, with only Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal collecting more points.
Although there have been far more draws than wins since the turn of the year - plus the distraction of a first final in 24 years - the Magpies sit fifth in the top-flight table, having lost just twice during the 2022-23 league season - both against Liverpool.
