Newcastle United's FA Cup fifth round clash at Championship side Blackburn Rovers was delayed by 15 minutes.

Kick-off was originally scheduled for 7:45pm but was pushed back to 8pm. This was to allow supporters to enter Ewood Park with heavy queues remaining outside.

A Blackburn Rovers statement read: "Kick-off has been delayed by 15 minutes until 8pm in order to allow as many supporters as possible to enter the ground."

There were similar issues in Blackburn's previous FA Cup game when they hosted Wrexham. Newcastle were made aware and decided not to conduct their usual away ticket spot checks at Ewood Park.

United were backed by 7,000 supporters in Lancashire as they eyed a place in the quarter-finals for the only the second time in 18 years. Eddie Howe's side have beaten Sunderland and Fulham to reach the last 16 stage.
