Jamal Lewis has been a Newcastle United outcast for much of the last 12 months - but will that change under Eddie Howe?

Having been second only to Callum Wilson in terms of transfer fees spent in the summer of 2020, and with links to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, many expected big things from Jamal Lewis at Newcastle United.

But, a season and a half down the line, things have not turned out the way the player, or the club will have planned.

Despite starting the season brightly under Steve Bruce, he became a peripheral figure by the end of it - and this campaign, Lewis has seen just six minutes of Premier League football.

However, last night, Lewis reminded many of his qualities, according to reports, helping Northern Ireland to a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with European champions Italy. It was a result which saw Roberto Mancini’s side drop into the World Cup qualifying play-offs next year - and saw Lewis praised by many who saw him.
