It was a winning weekend for both Newcastle United and Newcastle United Women, much to the delight of co-owner Amanda Staveley.

Staveley was in attendance as Eddie Howe's side claimed their first win at St James' Park in 2024 following a 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento were on the scoresheet, while the clean sheet was United's first in the league since December 16.

And less than 24 hours later, the Lady Magpies were in action, winning 4-1 away at Stoke City to maintain their nine point lead at the top of the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division. The victory comes a week after Becky Langley's side beat Portsmouth 2-1 in front of 22,307 fans at St James' Park to advance into final of the National League Cup.

Reacting to both results, Staveley posted on Instagram: "It’s been a winning weekend for both of our fantastic teams! It’s wonderful to see all our fans out supporting us as usual, and I’m so happy we’ve been able to deliver a win. Onwards and upwards we go 🖤🤍 #howaythelads #howaythelasses"

Howe's men next play a week on Monday when they visit Chelsea. Newcastle, in eighth, sit four points above the Blues as both clubs set their sights on European qualification. The Lasses, meanwhile, travel to Stourbridge.
