Borussia Dortmund are set to complete the signing of Felix Nmecha from Bundesliga rivals VfL Wolfsburg.

Former Manchester City academy product Nmecha had emerged as a summer target for Newcastle United before they prioritised a £55million move for Sandro Tonali from AC Milan.

And in the tweet posted by Romano, the Italian transfer expert namechecked Newcastle.

“Borussia Dortmund are set to complete Felix Nmecha deal, it’s done,” he said. “Package worth €30m add ons included, Wolfsburg accepted as @RNBVB called.

Indeed, Newcastle have officially announced the capture of Tonali around 10 days after sporting director Dan Ashworth and head of recruitment Steve Nickson held face-to-face with Milan officials.

The 23-year-old becomes United’s first major summer signing after putting pen to paper on an initial five-year contract.

“First of all, I want to thank Newcastle United because they are giving me a huge opportunity for my career,” said Tonali.
