Newcastle United moved up to ninth in the Premier League table following a comfortable 3-0 win at Norwich City.
Joelinton, on his 100th Premier League appearance, was at the double before another Brazilian in Bruno Guimaraes got on the scoresheet.
The Magpies had no wins in the opening 14 games this season. Eddie Howe’s side now have 10 wins from 14 in 2022, further highlighting their incredible turnaround.
Howe opted to make four changes from the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
Captain Jamaal Lascelles returned in place of Fabian Schar to partner Dan Burn at the back. Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock came into the midfield to join Bruno Guimaraes.
With Chris Wood rested, Joelinton surprisingly led the line for the first time in a long time as Jacob Murphy, in for Miguel Almiron, and Allan Saint-Maximin started in the wide areas.
Norwich missed two huge opportunities to take the lead inside the opening 20 minutes - both falling to Kieran Dowell.
The first was a ball over the top from Mathias Normann, which the former Everton youngster could only lift over Martin Dubravka’s goal.
Shortly after, Pierre Lees-Melou skinned past Guimaraes and Burn in the midfield before finding Teemu Pukki. Unable to get a shot away, the Finland international picked out Dowell in the middle, who fired over an empty net.
After a rocky start, United found their feet, and that was largely down to Howe’s decision to move Joelinton out to the left and Saint-Maximin down the middle.
It paid off immediately, with the Brazilian scoring a brace inside six first-half minutes. Joelinton’s first was an emphatic finish into the top corner. VAR checked for offside on Murphy in the build-up, but the goal was given.
Murphy was involved again. His shot was blocked by former United defender Grant Hanley but the ball rolled into Joelinton’s path, who slid it home into an empty net.
Four minutes into the second-half, Tim Krul gifted his former club a third. He passed the ball straight to Bruno before the £35m January signing produced the cheekiest of chipped finishes.
That rounded-off the scoring as Howe’s side saw out the game with ease.
