Your Newcastle United starting XI gallery - if the January transfer window rumours are true

Could this be how the Magpies starting eleven will look by the end of the January transfer window?

Newcastle United got a hectic week off to an abysmal start on Saturday when they crashed out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat at League One club Sheffield Wednesday.

Eddie Howe’s men will hope to bounce back immediately and move within touching distance of Wembley when they host Leicester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Tuesday night.

But there is plenty of hard work going on in the background at St James Park as the United hierachy look to strengthen Howe’s squad before the end of the January transfer window.

The completed business so far has revolved around players heading out on loan with goalkeeper Dan Langley, defender Kelland Watts and midfielder Joe White all completing temporary moves earlier this week. More youngsters are expected to follow with several of United’s Under-23s attracting interest from clubs in the EFL and Scotland.

But the Magpies are said to be keen to add to their ranks over the coming weeks with talks ongoing over a move for Real Valladolid’s highly-rated defender Ivan Fresneda and several midfield options are being assessed, with a ‘number six’ said to be high on the agenda.

NewcastleWorld assesses how the Magpies lineup could look come the end of the month - if the recent transfer rumours are true.
