The Magpies have been handed an opening day home clash with the Premier League newcomers.
There could be a different look about Newcastle United when they kick off their 2022/23 season with a home game against newly promoted Nottingham Forest in August.
The Magpies are expected to be one of the most active clubs in the summer transfer market as the United hierachy look to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad in a bid to build on the momentum gained by a positive end to last season.
The Magpies are continuing in their attempts to conclude deals for long-standing targets Sven Botman and Hugo Ekitike but remain interested in a number of other players.
Major decisions on current United players lie in wait over the coming weeks with several long-serving squad members said to be edging towards a departure from St James Park.
