Every new route from Newcastle airport due to start in 2025
Over the last 12 months the region’s largest airport has won UK and Irish Airport of the Year at the 2024 Travel Industry Awards as well as ‘Star UK Airport’ at the Travel Bulletin Star Awards. The site has also started its plan to relay the entirety of its runway over the winter months to prepare for a busy summer period in 2025.
In addition to this success, the site has announced a series of new flights and destinations to help the airport compete with the likes of Manchester and Edinburgh airports.

These are some of the new routes announced by airlines and Newcastle airport which are due to start in 2025.
Jersey and Guernsey
The channel islands will be open to the North East this coming year thanks to new flights from Newcastle airport.
Channel Islands airline, Blue Islands, will be running the route from May 2025 with flights continuing throughout the summer 2025 season. Passengers will have the choice of three weekly flights - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Copenhagen
One of Scandinavia’s most popular destinations will be accessible from the North East in 2025. Operated by Norwegian Airlines, flights to the Danish city will run from early May 2025 with twice-weekly flights to the capital every Monday and Friday.

A social and cultural hub with centuries of fascinating history, Berlin is a must-visit for anyone looking for a trip to mainland Europe over the next 12 months.
Another option starting in May 2025, flights will be run by German airline Lufthansa. The company already serves the North East of England with year-round flights to Düsseldorf and recently celebrated 10 years of flying from Newcastle Airport.
The new service will be the only regular, direct flight to Berlin from the North East and Yorkshire regions with flights running every Thursday and Sunday.

Already a hugely popular destination for many in the North East, Malaga serves much of southern Spain including Marbella.
The city will welcome flights from the North East starting in late March operating twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays, perfect for those looking to book a long weekend on Spain’s sunny coast.
