INNSiDE Newcastle has announced a new art partnership with Gateshead’s Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

Launching on Tuesday, April 1, the year-round partnership will see Baltic transform the INNSiDE Newcastle gallery space into a hub for creativity, offering guests and visitors the opportunity to experience world-class art on an everyday basis.

The partnership will kick off with an exhibition by acclaimed Newcastle-born artist Jimmy Turrell.

Turrell has worked with icons like The Chemical Brothers, Elvis, and Aretha Franklin and his new exhibition, “Off the Record, On the Pitch”, merges his two biggest influences - music and football.

The exhibition will be divided into two interconnected zones. The Sonic Side celebrates music’s visual culture, remixing iconic album covers, gig posters, and handwritten lyrics to capture its raw energy and nostalgia. Meanwhile, The Beautiful Game pays tribute to football’s rich history, blending vintage match-day memorabilia with bold, punk-inspired aesthetics.

Sara Ley, Head of Trading at Baltic commented: “We are excited that Baltic is forging a partnership with INNSiDE Newcastle who share our strong commitment to supporting and showcasing local artists. We look forward to presenting work from the great creative talent we have within the city on the other side of the quayside.

“The presentations will rotate throughout the year and people will be able to purchase the work and bring art into their homes.”

Katie Cunningham, General Manager of INNSiDE Newcastle, added: “At INNSiDE we are committed to showing our guests everything that’s great about Newcastle, from championing local businesses to connecting with the city’s thriving creative communities.

“We are delighted to announce our new partnership with Baltic and to give INNSiDE guests a taste of the fantastic art work displayed across the River Tyne.”

The first exhibition will be available to enjoy until the end of June, when a new exhibition will take over the site.
