Brit Awards 2022: What time is the ceremony tonight and how can I watch Sam Fender's live performance?

The 2022 Brit Awards are fast approaching, and this year fans of a North East artist have the chance to ensure they leave this year’s ceremony with a coveted trophy.

Sam Fender is up for three awards including Best Rock/Alternative Act which is voted for by the public.

Anyone wanting to cast their vote is out of luck as voting closed on February 3, but fans can find out of Fender wins at the ceremony. It has been confirmed that he will be performing as part of the night too. It will be Fender’s first time performing at the Brits.

Fender is one of five artists nominated for the award with world superstars Coldplay, up-and-comers Glass Animals and indie mainstays Tom Grennan and Wolf Alice all up against the North Shields local.

He recently took to social media to encourage fans to vote for him and promised to turn the award into a bar pump for the Low Lights Tavern in North Shields if he wins.

The Best Rock/Alternative Act category was one of four categories open for public voting, with the Dance Act, Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Pop/R&B Act awards all being decided by social media users.

The rock/alternative category is one of the three awards Fender is nominated for at the ceremony. His hugely successful second album Seventeen Going Under has been nominated for Album Of The Year while Fender himself is also up for the Artist Of The Year award alongside Adele, Dave, Ed Sheeran and Little Simz.

Sam Fender has previously won one Brit Award, this came in 2019 when he won the Critics Choice Award – now renamed the Rising Star Award.

When is the 2022 Brit Awards Ceremony?

Following last year’s restricted ceremony where NHS workers accepted free audience seats as and thank you for their hard work during the Covid 19 pandemic, this year The O2 Arena in London is set to play host to a more regular looking award ceremony on February 8.

The full event is set to be shown on ITV from 8:00pm with performances from Sam Fender Dave, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Holly Humberstone and more. International viewers can watch on the Brits’ YouTube Channel.
