Dua Lipa has announced the support acts for her 2022 UK tour, which includes a night at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena.
Griff will be the lone support act for the night, which has been rescheduled from May 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Last October, the dates were rescheduled once again to September and October this year, but the shows were then postponed to spring of 2022 as restrictions on mas gatherings continued.
The tour starts in Monchester on 15 April 2022 and will be in Newcastle on 23 April following two dates in Ireland.
The was initially is part of the release of Dua Lipa’s second studio album, Future Nostalgia, which was one of the biggest records of 2020 folloing its release in April of last year. It debuted at the top spot in the album charts and spent four weeks in the same position.
Griff, 20 from Hertfordshire, released her debut single in 2019 and reached the top 20 in the singles charts with Black Hole in January of this year.
The song came from her second full release, a mixtape named One Foot In Front Of The Other which reached number four in the UK chart. An EP named The Mirror Talk was released in November 2019. Both releases came from the same record label as Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia.
The singer has also had a successful 2021, having won the Rising Star award at the 2021 Brit Awards in May.
April will only be the third time Dua Lipa has performed in Newcastle. Following a set at a Metro Radio event at the arena in December 2016, she returned to Tyneside as part of the singer’s 2017 tour which saw her play at the O2 Academy.
Tickets for the Newcastle date of the tour remain available on the Utilita Arena website with resale tickets for floor standing tickets still being offered through Ticketmaster’s resale platform.
Griff is one of three support acts across the tour, with Tove Lo and Angèle travelling with the pop superstar across the UK and mainland Europe.
