Glastonbury Festival, arguably the biggest and best music event on the planet, is happening this weekend and away from the superstars playing the Pyramid Stage and wide range of other acts performing across the weekend, some eyes are already turning to North East representation next year.

The region is well represented this year although no local act is replicating Sam Fender’s stunning sunset Pyramid Stage set from the 2022 edition of the festival.

Fender has experience of headlining festivals, having played the final Saturday slot at Truck Festival in 2022. He is also scheduled to headline the Saturday of Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival in July and has also shown he is more than capable of impressing huge crowds thanks to sellout shows at St James Park and Finsbury Park in 2023 and 2022 respectively.

Who are the favourites to headline Glastonbury 2024?

Taylor Swift is the bookies’ favourite to headline in Somerset next summer with even odds. The superstar was scheduled to play the 2020 edition of the festival before it was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. She is yet to return.

Coldplay take the second spot with 6/4 odds. The band have have played the famous festival on four occasions in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016 and could well return to the farm again in 2024. All four of those appearances were headline sets on the Pyramid Stage and they could become the first artists to headline the festival five times.
