Greggs have started the Sam Fender celebrations early ahead of the artist’s two headline shows in Newcastle this month.

The North Shields local will be playing two nights at the iconic St James Park, home of Newcastle United on Friday, June 9 and Saturday June 10 and the bakery which is synonymous with the region is clearly getting in the spirit of the weekend to come.

The company’s Grainger Street branch has seen a very subtle change this week which sees Fender eating one of the bakery’s famous bake products in the artistic style which the singer-songwriter has used since the start of 2022.

The bakery has also changed the profile picture across their social media channels to the same image.

Both nights of shows at St James Park and sold out and it will be the first time a local solo artist has played the iconic city centre stadium which has previously hosted Bob Dylan and one of Fender’s heroes Bruce Springsteen.

The North East is ramping up preparations ahead of the two days of shows with the Tyne and Wear Metro offering travel advice to gig goers including a series of closed stations throughout the days. Services are expected to be even busier on Saturday, June 10 with Pink also headlining the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

This is set to be a huge summer for Fender who is not only supporting Springsteen in Europe, but is also headlining Reading and Leeds festivals in August.
