Some of the biggest names in World Darts are coming to Newcastle next month as they Cazoo premier League 2022 rolls into Tyneside.
14 nights of darts over the course of three months will have delighted audiences across the UK and Europe before the players arrive in Newcastle.
Despite it being towards the end of the season, there will still be plenty to play for when the players step up on stage.
Here’s all you need to know ahead of the event, if tickets are available and who will be taking to the stage.
What is the Cazoo Premier League?
The Cazoo Premier League is a darts tournament that sees eight of the highest ranked players in the world of darts compete in arenas around the UK and Europe.
The tournament has changed this year to a new format which will see eight players contest 16 mini-events during the season ahead of the Play-Offs to determine a champion.
All 16 league phase nights will be individual events comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the best of 11 legs - with a £10,000 bonus to each night’s winner.
Ranking points will be awarded from each night - with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists - to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the Play-Offs.
The tournament takes place across 17 nights in 17 cities across six countries, with the final night set to be in Berlin on 13 June.
The exciting new format will therefore be played in Newcastle for the first time this year.
When does the Darts Premier League come to Newcastle?
The night of Premier League Darts comes to Newcastle on Thursday, 26 May which is due to be the penultimate night of the tournament.
The action takes place at the Utilita Arena, which has been a host to Premier League Darts since 2007.
Who is playing in Newcastle?
The night in Newcastle is the 16th out of 17, meaning that it is the final night before the finals night in June.
All eight of the players who have featured in the first season of the new format will play in Newcastle, however the order will be only determined following night 15 in London.
The players are Michael van Gerwyn, Gerwyn Price, Joe Cullen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright, James Wade, Michael Smith and Jonny Clayton.
The matches will be decided by the league standings, with first place playing eight, second facing seventh, third coming up against sixth and fourth place playing fifth.
Are tickets still available?
The popularity of the tournament means that tickets have sold fast in venues across the UK and Europe, Newcastle is no exception.
There is very limited availability for the night in Newcastle, but some resale tickets are available through the Utilita Arena website
