World Book Day 2022 is upon us, and it is a day for Newcastle to celebrate your favourite works, from fiction to non-fiction.

What better way to mark the day than to take a trip to one of the great bookshops located across Newcastle.

Seven Stories

In Newcastle we can proudly say we have the National Centre for Children’s Stories right on our doorstep.

A place filled with plenty of things to do, the centre celebrates some of the most cherished stories ever written.

With a dedication to children’s stories, the centre makes for an ideal place to visit this World Book Day.

There is a specialist children’s bookshop located in the centre which has books for toddlers all the way through to young adults.

It is free to enter the centre which is open seven days a week except during term time when it closes every Wednesday.

Books for Amnesty

This second-hand bookshop on Westgate Road has a vast collection of books to suit all ages and interests.

Proceeds from the shop, which is run by Amnesty International UK, gotowards supporting the organisation’s work to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied.

The shop has been serving Newcastle for more thana decade, and stocks high quality books priced between £1.50 and £6.

Genres available at the shop include second hand books, both fiction and non-fiction, children’s books, poetry and travel books.

The shop is open 11am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday’s.

Located on Percy Street, the family owned shop has branches across the UK.

The shop has a wide range of books on offer, as well as writing equipment and other stationery.

You can also order books from online into stores ready to pick up, and this can be done free of charge.

Blackwell’s Books is open 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, 9.30pm to 5.30pm Saturday’s and is closed on Sunday’s.
