The 5k route will see participants start on Newcastle’s famous Quayside before crossing the Swing Bridge into Gateshead and heading west before a U turn takes them back over the Millenium Bridge. From here they will run up towards Ouseburn and back along the Quayside to the finish line.

Junior and Mini Great North Runs

Entries have now closed for the two kids events which make up the entertainment for the Saturday of the Great North Run weekend.

The races will take place along the Tyne on both the Newcastle and Gateshead sides, mirroring the events from the previous evening, although the routes will be in use for much longer due to the amount of races taking place.

All mini races will be 1.2km long while the junior events will take palce over a 4km course.
