Classic gangster film Get Carter is set to be screened at Tyneside Cinema to celebrate its 50-year anniversary.

The Michael Caine-led feature first released in 1971 and showcases some iconic areas of Newcastle and the North East.

Tyneside Cinema will screen a new 4K release of the film, with a special Q&A session to follow the screening of the North-East-set thriller.

The one-off screening of the film will take place on May 7 and feature a one-of-a-kind evening.

Film producer Tony Klinger is set to appear at the event for an exclusive Q&A, the son of legendary film producer Michael Klinger.

Douglas Weir, who led the restoration of Get Carter at BFI will also appear to answer questions about the film.

The event is being filmed as part of the upcoming documentary Totally Iconic, a celebration of Get Carter, due for release later this year.
