The Hoppings is returning to the Town Moor this summer, and we have the dates to remember.

Europe's largest travelling funfair has a history dating back to 1882 with 2025 marking a return to the North East - and the fair is boasting a new white knuckle ride.

The experience which will see people plunge a massive 80 metres is being lined up as the star of the show at this year’s Hoppings.

And one lucky person and their guest could be the first people to try it out – or one of the other top rides – on the opening day.

Europe’s biggest travelling fair is set to return to Newcastle’s Town Moor from Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 29, bringing with it hundreds of much-loved attractions.

And to get the event off to an exciting start, the organisers have launched a competition where the winner will be able to have the very first ride of this year’s event on the attraction of their choice, on the opening day on 20 June.

To add to the good news, The Hoppings will now be back at full capacity, following on from a reduced site last year, due to the aftermath of bad weather.

Ryan Crow of Crow Events, believes it will be a huge draw this time round.

“Bringing Drop Tower to The Hoppings fit in with our on-going vision to bring the biggest rides in the world to Europe’s largest funfair,” he said.

“It will not only look amazing, towering over the whole site, but will be an absolutely unforgettable experience for anyone who dares to try it.

“We are also delighted that we will be reconfiguring the site which will be back to its full size.”

Anyone wanting to be in with a chance of winning the first ride honour needs to add their details to the event’s website.

Familiar features including street food area Feast Street, the Live Lounge which showcases musical performances by local talent and the popular Kids Club.
