How to watch Newcastle Eagles' European semi final as basketball team make history

Newcastle Eagles are set to make history this week as the team reaches their first ever European North Basketball League semi final.

The team, which was formed in 1976 and moved to Tyneside from Sunderland in 1995, have played some of the continent’s best sides this season have have reached a new high.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 8 they will play in Bratislava in the European North Basketball League (ENBL) final four tournament against Polish side Warszawa Dziki.

This is the second time the sides have ever met, with Newcastle winning by nine points back in November 2024. They currently sit 6th in the British Super League Basketball standings.

The team have said around 60 fans are making the trip to Slovakia while hundreds are expected to watch the game in the official fan zone at Newcastle’s Maldron Hotel on Newgate Street.

Anyone who isn’t able to head into the city is still in luck, however. The game is live streamed on YouTube from 7:30pm UK time.

By tip off, the two sides will already know who the winner of the game will face in the final with the first game between Inter Bratislava and CSO Voluntari starting at 4:30pm UK time.

The final will take place one day later on Wednesday, April 9.
