Newcastle Christmas Market 2022: When does market start and end, full address and nearby parking

With Halloween done and out of the way, everyone’s attention has now turned to the next major holiday - Christmas. Newcastle is set to look more festive than ever as the return of their popular Christmas market is set to return.

And, one of the most popular Christmas markets in the area is also set to return. Around 30 market stalls will once again be set up around Grey’s Monument to create Newcastle’s very own winter wonderland.

This year, the market will be extended and will feature an avenue of stalls Grainger Street, the top of Grey Street and Old Eldon Square. After a tough 2022, with the cost of living crisis and more, it’s your chance to support local businesses at the market.

And even better, the Newcastle Christmas market is once again free to attend. If you wish to visit the likes of Santa’s grotto, it will cost over £10, but, to enter the main market, you do not have to pay.

The council has been working closely with NE1, to offer a whole host of activities, to give everyone a timely and much needed boost. Stephen Patterson, Chief Executive of NE1 Ltd said: “Every year, Newcastle’s Christmas offer improves and evolves, and I am delighted that we continue to build on what was achieved last year.

“It is hugely important that over the festive period, Newcastle looks its best and that we provide a compelling offer that has something for everyone, including free of charge events and activities for the family. The festive offer, including the Grainger Market and the extended Christmas outdoor market will be fantastic for the city, businesses, residents, and visitors alike.”

When does the Newcastle Christmas Market open?

Unfortunately, Newcastle will have to wait just a couple weeks more before some Christmas cheer is sprinkled over the city. The festive season will get underway in Newcastle when the Christmas lights will be turned on, which is set to happen on Tuesday, November 15.

And you won’t have long to wait after that. The Christmas market in Newcastle will open on Saturday, November 19 and run until Friday, December 23.
