After a couple of years where laser displays took over the skies above Newcastle’s Quayside, this year sees a return to tradition.
Newcastle City Council have confirmed two firework displays will end 2024 on Tyneside, while simultaneously welcoming in 2025.

When do the New Year’s Eve fireworks displays start in Newcastle?
There will be two displays as part of the New Year celebrations. The first of these - a family friendly display - will kick off at 6pm on Tuesday, December 31.
The second display to see in the new year will take place at midnight.
Where are the best places to watch the Newcastle New Year’s firework display?
Organisers claim the best views will come from the designated viewing areas along the quayside. These run from the Tyne Bridge to the Cycle Hub on the northern side and Baltic Square on the southern Gateshead side of the river.
How long are the New Year displays in Newcastle?
Each show is expected to last around 15 minutes.

Hide AdLive entertainment will begin from one hour before each display while food and drink stalls will be set up on Gateshead’s Baltic Square.
How to get to Newcastle Quayside for the New Year’s firework displays
This year may see more issues than previous editions of the popular event due to issues with the Gateshead Flyover, which will remain closed until at least the New Year.
Metro services are not running between Heworth and Monument, although the city centre station is within walking distance of the Quayside.
Metro services will run to special timetables on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Off street car parking is available at Akenside Hill off Queen Street and close to the Swing Bridge visitors will find another car park.
Dean Street multi-storey car park is open until midnight. At Manors it is £1.20 per hour or a flat all-day charge of £9 from 8am - 6pm Monday to Saturday and £3 all day on Sunday, then free into the evening.
Roads will be closed on the Quayside from 4pm on New Year’s Eve to accomodate the crowds.
