This year marks the 16th anniversary of Record Store Day, with a whole host of stores set to take part and exclusive releases have been announced including Taylor swift and more

A full list of stores taking part in Record Store Day 2023 have been announced, with six from the Newcastle area involved. As well as this, a full list of exclusive releases coming to independent UK record shops as part of the celebration have been revealed.

Record Store Day 2023 is just over two months away, and is being held on April 22 this year. The aim of the day is to "celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store", bringing together fans, artists, stores and more together.

A big name band is also an ambassador for the day this year, with Cheshire-based band The 1975 confirmed as ambassadors. The band have been on a long UK tour, and will be bringing their tour to the likes of Asia soon.

Local lad Sam Fender is also having ‘Wild Grey Ocean/Little Bull Of Blithe’ released on a 7” format. Fender is due to play a gig at St James’ Park, the home of Newcastle this year, after filling numerous headline slots in 2022.

Another notable release is Taylor Swift’s 2020 ‘surprise’ record ‘folklore’. The record was Swift’s eighth studio album, and teed up her 2022 album ‘Midnights’ which featured the hit songs ‘Anti-hero’ and more.
