The end of the year is edging closer, and for those who are inclined, that means preparations for New Years Eve are underway. But what is happening across Newcastle to celebrate the introduction of 2022?

As part of the show, lasers will be set up on the Quayside, Hadrian’s Tower and the Civic Centre and will react to decisions made by visitors through a smartphone app, which will go live closer to the date.

The show will take place twice, at the more family friendly time of 6:00pm and when clocks across the UK strike midnight.

The Stack site on Pilgrim Street has already sold out its tickets for the night, but there are plenty of other places across the city to see in the new year.

Early in the day, Gosforth’s Civic Theatre is hosting a family friendly New Years Eve party complete with DJs, craft activities and snacks from midday until 2:00pm. The little ones can even count down to the new year on a big screen as part of the event.

As you’d expect, venues across Newcastle city centre are planning for the big day, and plenty of bars are already showing off what they have in store.

For those wanting an alternative view of the displays over the Tyne, By The River Brew Co. are putting together a full site production for the night. From their spot underneath the Tyne Bridge, the group are promising midnight pyrotechnics, street food traders and DJs in addition to the site’s fantastic beers and cocktails.

From the same company, Wylam Brewery are offering the full Hogmanay experience, complete with a hog roast, street food, drinks and a firepit.

Other bars are also starting to show off their plans, including Aveika on the Quayside, who are promising a night “steeped in surprise and sophistication” while Tup Tup Palace, Revolution and Bijoux are all able to offer a traditional clubbing experience in the heart of the Toon.
