Newcastle childcare provider wins £21,000 from £1 at local casino

A business owner from Newcastle is celebrating a life-changing win for her and her family after turning a £1 bet into more than £21,000.

Gemma Park, a 36-year-old childcare provider, was on a night out with friends at her Tyneside’s Grosvenor Casino to watch a football match when she decided to try her luck with a £1 bet on a game of blackjack.

After turning over her cards she was left speechless when she found out she scooped a £21,414 jackpot.

Speaking about her win, Gemma said: “I’m ecstatic and overjoyed about this win. I was having an amazing evening with my friends and thought why not try my luck whilst I’m here. Needless to say, none of my friends could believe it was real when I hit the jackpot and quite frankly neither could I!

“This win comes at a perfect time as it will allow me to pay off part of my mortgage and take my partner on a two-week cruise this summer for a well-deserved break under the sun.”

Just days after Gemma scooped the top cash prize, another lucky guest at the casino on St. James Boulevard won £15,000 creating another jackpot-winning moment for the casino which is enjoying a lucky start to 2023.
