Offers and events on during May Half Term in Newcastle and Gateshead

With May half-term just around the corner, there are plenty of opportunities for family days out and things to do in the Newcastle and Gateshead area.

Space-themed adventures and the Queen’s Jubilee weekend could provide a fun-packed week for the family.

The Space Adventures exhibit at the Life Science Centre will see themed activites including moon buggy building and a space zone adventure that lets attendees check out mission control.

Attendees can also check out the experiment zone and build their own rocket with real chemicals for an out-of-this-world experience.

The Tour De Moon 2022 is also set to feature, with performances, interactive exhibits and experiments offered by the event.

Newcastle will be one of only four cities in the UK to host the event.

Beamish Museum is also set to offer some Jubilee-themed celebrations, with a 1950s-themed Front Street party filled with band and choir performances, football matches and crown making.

The Saturday morning farm club will take place at Jarrow Hall, and from 10am to 12pm, youngsters can discover all they like about farm life.

Jarrow Hall strongly advises wearing appropriate clothing and wellies are essential for the event.

Another animal-themed event will take place, with a free exhibition at the Great North Museum: Hancock for the Where did all the Animals Go? exhibit.

Attendees can expect drawings of the world’s most vulnerable species and a creative space for youngsters to learn more about species facing extinction.

Paint and Sip will also take place in Gateshead at The Shipley Art Gallery, with arts and crafts tool provided for attendees to create their own masterpiece while sipping on a beverage of their choice.

Booking for the event is essential, and will take place on May 28 between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.
