Starting on Newcastle quayside, visitors to the city can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Tyne where the new, pop-up Urban Garden offers comfy deck chairs, large outdoor games and of course street food and fresh drinks from the bar. Visitors are welcome to sit and relax, taking in the stunning view of the Tyne and its bridges.

Further along the river the Wave-Field see-saws allow for fun with friends, family or even strangers. The ‘instagrammable’ views await, where you can get in your daily steps whilst sitting down!

Walkers along the river are certain to spot 3D Joe & Max’s cavernous pavement art, which  has taken over social media. Commissioned to represent some North East heritage, the artwork features a section of Hadrian’s Wall which appears to be buried below the pavement, alongside some Roman artifacts sticking out of the ground. A broken pipeline painted from one side to the other makes for the ideal photo opportunity. If you get your camera in the right spot, the view is outstandingly realistic.

Further up into the city, turfed seating areas and family friendly zones have been installed to offer somewhere to take a break from shopping and allow everyone a comfortable seat away from the hustle and bustle. Large planters and other artwork has been added across the city to bring colour into the summer. Keep a lookout for some of the amazing artwork as you are wandering Newcastle.

The magnificent Screen On The Green has also returned this summer to Old Eldon Square. Throughout the summer holidays, you can enjoy two free movies a day with an exciting schedule from cult classics and rom-coms to some new blockbusters! This is a great place to pull up a deck chair with your friends, or even a romantic date, and enjoy some free cinema.
