Tyneside offers so much to so many residents and tourists throughout the year, but there are some ways we think 2023 in Newcastle could be even better than 2025.

1. Clear improvements to the Tyne Bridge
Work remains ongoing into the new year, and we'd love to see part of the scaffolding structure fully removed soon-ish to see how the structure looks after the periods of restoration. | LDRS

2. No more flyover
For 12 months this stretch of road has been a pain for many commuters in and out of the city centre heading south. Demolition is sceduled for next year and we're looking forward to seeing what improvements are made after the change. | LDRS

3. More huge summer events
This year saw the city welcome the likes of Robbie Williams, Kings of Leon and Fntaines DC to Tyneside, let's keep that run going into 2026! | Jaosn Button/NationalWorld

4. National Lottery Open Week
Every year sites funded through the National Lottery open their doors with special discounts and experiences with lots expected to happen across Newcastle this year. The week will return in the second week of March. Photo: Photojoiner
