Best places to celebrate Bonfire night with firework displays in and around Newcastle this weekend

Autumn has well and truly hit the North East and, even though the nights are getting colder, this time of year still offers plenty for families, with one of the big nights falling on 5 November.

The skies of Gosforth will be lit up for two consecutive days with the area’s Sports Assocciation hosting a display at Gosforth Rugby Club on Saturday 6 November. The site will have children’s rides and food stands with doors opening at 5pm ahead of the 7pm display. Tickets are available online.

The previous evening will see a display around the corner at Newcastle Racecourse, who’s display will be seen as a culmination of a family-friendly day of racing. The programme of events sees seven races over three hours from 3pm with the fireworks starting an hour after the final race. Under 17s can enter for free with a paying adult.

Psycho Path has already proven to be popular in the North East in the build up to Halloween this year, and the site are continuing the festivities into November with a Big Blaze at Lintz Hall Farm. In addition to a fireworks display on 6 November, the organisers will prepare a bonfire, a fire and angle grinding show in addition to a wide variety of street food stalls. Although most tickets are already sold, some last minute options are available.

Another rugby club hosting a fireworks display is Longbenton-based Novocastrians RFC. Entry to the event is £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s, all of which is paid upon arrival.
