Christmas Day is now here but those looking to make the most of their time away from work, school and colleges are checking out ways to expand their Christmas festivities into Boxing Day and there is plenty to check out across Tyneside on Monday, December 26.
Boxing Day Dips
Lots of brave souls across the North East will be spending their Boxing Day morning heading to coastal locations across the region. Up in Northumberland there will be events at Cambois Beach in Blyth while St Mary’s Lighthouse in Whitley Bay will also see people head into the sea for charity. The Blyth event kicks off at 10am and the Whitley Bay dip starts at 11am.

Hide AdNewcastle racecourse are hosting their regular Boxing Day meet on Monday, December 26 with special offers including free entry for kids under 17 when accompanied by an adult. Doors will open at 10am with the first race of the jump schedule starting at 11:45am and coming to an end at 3:10pm with the course claiming it is the perfect way to get out and escape the chaotic Christmas celebrations.

Boxing Day football is a tradition in the UK and this year the day coincides with the resumption of the Premier League following the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Those who aren’t making the trip to Leicester to watch Newcastle United still have plenty of options.
Blyth Spartans will play Spennymoor Town in the National League North on Boxing Day at 3pm while South Shields, Dunston UTS and North Shields are all in action across the Northern Premier League.

Those who aren’t sports fans shouldn’t worry as plenty of restaurants and bars will be offering special bottomless brunch options the day after Christmas. Las Iguanas on Grey Street has bookings available for Monday, December 26 as does Revolution on Collingwood Street. Tickets for Revolution are available to buy online.
