Non-league football clubs to visit on Tyneside during Newcastle United's March international break

Even though Newcastle aren’t playing, fans can get their football fix elsewhere this weekend.

Despite a tough loss to take against Everton, Newcastle come into the final international break of the 2021-22 season in a good run of form which saw Eddie Howe’s side keep an unbeaten run of ten Premier League games, lasting throughout January and February.

While Howe makes adjustments on the training ground, fans are in luck as there are plenty of other fixtures to attend this international break.

Gateshead FC sit at the top of the National League North going into this weekend and they will be hoping for a booster crowd when they face off against relegation threatened Bradford Park Avenue.

Former Newcastle youngster Adam Campbell is the man to watch for the Heed, with the 27 year old having scored 11 goals this season for a side managed by Mike Williamson, another familiar face for St James' Park regulars.

In tier three of non-league there are two nearby options for Newcastle fans. Those wanting to head north can catch playoff chansing Morpeth Town AFC host mid table Ashton United while second placed South Shields play Stafford Rangers at the 1st Cloud Arena on South Tyneside.

Those wanting to stay closer to the city have another option in Gateshead thanks to Dunston UTS, who play Cleethorpes Town in the Northern Premier League East on Saturday. This is set up to be a fascinating fixture between two sides hoping for a playoff campaign in May.

Moving down another division to the Northern League offers fans a range of fixtures to choose from. In Division One, North Tyneside hosts two fixtures with North Shields hosting Penrith in a game between two sides at opposite ends of the table while Walkergate’s Newcastle Benfield host Thornaby.

Any United fans who want to support other teams within Newcastle United are also able to get to a game this weekend. The club’s Women’s team will host Bradford City on Sunday 27 March while the under 23 squad will host West Bromwich Albion’s top youth squad on Monday night at St James’ Park.
