5. Walbottle and Throckley Dene
If you've ever driven along the A69, there's a good chance you've gone over Walbottle and Throckley Dene without even knowing. The path and accompanying wooded area follow the eastern side of Throckley and stretch as far down as Newburn. It may not be as famous as its Manchester namesake, but Heaton Park can be a stunning place for a walk when the leaves are changing colours. A family favourite across the North East, Jesmond Dene has exactly what you want from a walking route. Picturesque, easiliy accessible and topped off with a cafe and a children's play area, this route has something for everyone.
