Having seen his debut album in 2019 reach number one in the UK album chart, singer-songwriter Tom Walker is taking a break ahead of the release of his follow up to perform 10 intimate tour dates across the UK. Newcastle has been selected as one of those cities as part of the tour, playing Newcastle University on March 21, 2023.

The platinum album selling Scottish performer first broke through into the UK charts in 2017 with the release of Leave a Light On, which peaked at number seven in the UK singles chart and subsequently went three times platinum. His reissue of You and I, which first appeared on his EP Blessings, climbed even further to number three in the UK chart.

The momentum from the singles helped propel his debut studio album, What a Time to Be Alive, to the top of the UK album chart in 2019 coupled with a Best Breakthrough Act at that year’s BRIT Awards ceremony. The single Leave a Light On was also nominated that year for the Best Single award.

Ahead of the UK tour, Walker has released a new music video for his latest track The Best Is Yet To Come which sees the singer shine a light on some of the deeply impactful stories that fans shared with him following a teaser of the track being posted on TikTok earlier this year. Directed by Joel Barney, responsible for music videos by Royal Blood, the heartwarming and powerful video tells the stories of fans who resonated with the song’s lyrics.

The stories include a young woman who is now fully recovered from a heart transplant, a domestic abuse survivor, two best friends who helped each other through an illness, a couple who had the song as their first dance, an individual who signed the whole song in support of deaf community and a mother and her son, who has down syndrome, tackling prejudice.
