A Gateshead drinking establishment has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

The One Eyed Stag, a pub, bar or nightclub at 5 The Square, Whickham, Whickham was given the maximum score after assessment on October 20, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Gateshead's 172 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 109 (63%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
