A Gateshead restaurant has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

McDonalds, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at Shibdon Road, Blaydon On Tyne, Tyne And Wear was given the maximum score after assessment on July 12, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Gateshead's 246 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 198 (80%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
