A Gateshead restaurant has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

A Gateshead restaurant has been handed a new four-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

Birtley Community Association, a restaurant, cafe or canteen at Birtley Community Centre, Ravensworth Road, Birtley, Chester Le St was given the score after assessment on January 16, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Gateshead's 257 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 214 (83%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
