A Gateshead takeaway has been handed a new three-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

China Chef, a takeaway at 56a Durham Road, Birtley, Birtley was given the score after assessment on August 8, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.

It means that of Gateshead's 198 takeaways with ratings, 124 (63%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
