Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to 13 Gateshead establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to 13 of Gateshead’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to six restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: Costa Coffee - Northbound at Washington Services, Portobello, Birtley; rated on January 29

• Rated 5: Small Saints Oosc at St Marys Rc Church Hall, Dockendale Lane, Whickham, Whickham; rated on January 26

• Rated 5: UkiUki at NE8 ; rated on January 26

• Rated 5: Aramark @ Gateshead College Baltic Campus at Gateshead College Baltic Campus, Quarryfield Road, East Gateshead, Gateshead; rated on January 23

• Rated 5: Burger King at G111 Trinity Square, Gateshead; rated on January 23

• Rated 5: The Cedars Academy at Ivy Lane, Low Fell, Gateshead; rated on January 23
