Good news as food hygiene ratings given to seven Gateshead establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to seven of Gateshead’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to four restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: FUNSHACK at 377 Princesway, Eighth Avenue, Team Valley; rated on September 20

• Rated 5: Sereniti at 9-11 Wellington Street, Gateshead; rated on August 30

• Rated 5: St Helens Church Hall at Belle Vue Bank, Gateshead, Tyne And Wear; rated on April 26

• Rated 5: Birtley Community Association at Birtley Community Centre, Ravensworth Road, Birtley, Chester Le St; rated on April 20

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And one rating has been handed to a pub, bar or nightclub:

• Rated 5: Fox And Hounds Inn at Coalburns, Greenside, Ryton; rated on April 26
